Her husband swore to forgive if she promised to forget….

When Jessica’s husband dies suddenly, her well managed life falls apart. After two years of hardship, she’s at the end of her rope. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, Cole stumbles back into her life.

He’s the one her eyes should never have seen. He’s the affair that nearly destroyed her marriage. Seeing Cole again throws a wrench in her already unhinged world, and the attraction she’d sworn to forget reignites. But she’d promised her husband never to think of Cole, ever again.

Can she keep her promise? Or is the attraction between the two strong enough to break her vow?

When Mexican-American author Aidèe Jaimes isn’t chasing after her energetic daughter and spending time with her happily ever after husband in their Florida home, she’s living other lives through her characters. As her writing evolved into darker, sexier, no holds-barred stories, she transitioned from the pen name Haden Hudson, to the author she is today!

I haven’t read any of Aidèe Jaimes other books, but this one stands on its own fairly well. I was hesitant about starting it because it says it’s #4 in another series, but it’s actually a spinoff series. I don’t think you would have to read the previous books in order to enjoy this one.

As for the plot, it feels like it was pulled from a daytime television show. The love story is bitter sweet. You can definitely feel all of Jessica’s emotions as she struggles with a promise you made to her husband to forget about an affair she had with another man. The reader (or listener) struggles along with her. I kept wondering what I would do in that situation. Jessica felt very real to me. Cole… not as much. But Jessica’s pain and self exploration was more than enough to keep me entertained.

Alicia Palmer did a good job with this book. I could hear the heartbreak in her voice when it was appropriate. That helped me connect with Jessica even more.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Aidèe Jaimes. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
